About The Position

In this position, you will lead problem-solving efforts to assist plants and implementation teams in resolving tooling, equipment, and conveyor performance issues and downtime. You will coordinate resources to find root causes and fixes, manage and break down problems into verifiable items, and determine proper validation methods. This role involves the setup and maintenance of industrial bar code printers, and the design and implementation of vision control systems, requiring familiarity with different types of vision cameras and their programming software. You will continuously evaluate equipment for improvements in quality and delivery, use FIS plant monitoring software to review equipment cycle times, and follow up on project installations. Responsibilities include reprogramming equipment for engineering changes and improvements, updating program backups for machinery and automation, and programming new installations of automation, machinery, material handling, and robots. As part of a team, you will review risk assessments and evaluate equipment safety, and assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians. You will also read and modify electrical prints and schematics using Auto CAD, maintain familiarity with OA, CPN/MPN networks and communication protocols for connecting to wireless and wired networks, and manage the installation and maintenance of virus protection software for controls network PCs, including performing PC backup disc images and installing communication, firmware, and controls software. Overtime and weekends may be required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 or more years of Controls Engineering experience (internship and coop experience will be considered)
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, modify electrical schematics and use AutoCAD
  • Validated ability to troubleshoot equipment and continuously evaluate for process improvements
  • Solid understanding of networking to include DH+, Ethernet and remote IO
  • One or more years of experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls or Automation Engineering
  • Electrical background (electrician or technician) preferred
  • Familiar with PLC/CNC (Siemens/ Allen-Bradley), VFD, Servo, Profinet, ABB and FANUC Robots
  • Solid understanding of laser burning
  • Experience with conveyor system programming and overhead Gantry
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping experience
  • Understanding of 8D, FMEA, and DMAIC processes
  • Familiar with TQM and Kaizen methods
  • Knowledge of simulation modeling and visual factory management preferred
