About The Position

The Engineering Services Director leads comprehensive engineering operations supporting pharmaceutical R&D, commercial facilities, and central utility systems. This strategic role develops and implements lifecycle asset management processes while managing seven critical service functions that ensure operational excellence across complex pharmaceutical environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline)
  • Minimum 10-12 years of progressive engineering management experience, with 5+ years in pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex facility engineering operations.
  • Strong background in asset lifecycle management, CMMS systems (SAP preferred), CAD/CAFM platforms, and predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical facility systems including HVAC, utilities, process equipment, and regulatory compliance requirements (FDA, EMA).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple concurrent projects, and drive organizational change.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience developing strategic initiatives that improve operational performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working in matrix organizations and managing vendor relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering license, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or equivalent credentials.
  • Experience with digital transformation initiatives, Industry 4.0 technologies, and advanced analytics platforms.
  • Background in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic asset lifecycle management and engineering service delivery frameworks aligned with pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and operational excellence
  • Oversee grey area projects including infrastructure modifications, system integrations, and cross-functional initiatives ensuring compliance and operational continuity
  • Direct CAD/CAFM systems management for facility drawings, as-built documentation, and digital asset visualization standards
  • Lead enterprise-wide master data governance for facility assets, equipment specifications, vendor information, and documentation across all systems
  • Serve as SAP CMMS business process owner managing end-to-end work management workflows from request initiation through completion and performance tracking
  • Manage facility services call center operations as primary intake point for work requests, ensuring proper routing, prioritization, and critical event response
  • Direct maintenance engineering activities coordinating with Reliability Engineering to develop maintenance strategies, failure analysis protocols, and equipment improvements
  • Lead predictive maintenance program execution utilizing condition monitoring technologies, analytics, and equipment-based scheduling to optimize performance and minimize downtime
  • Develop and mentor engineering professionals across disciplines while fostering cross-functional collaboration and building pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities
  • Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, stakeholder engagement, and implementation of best practices supporting capital planning and operational objectives
