About The Position

GAF's Operations Team is expanding, and this program is designed to accelerate the development of recent graduates into leaders within our manufacturing operations network. The program offers the opportunity to make an impact by solving complex challenges, networking with key leaders, and working on major projects and product lines at GAF plants. This 2-year program aims to develop high-potential talent into future operations leaders by fostering drive, ambition, curiosity, and collaboration. Participants will contribute to real-world solutions, work with industry experts, and find their next best opportunity within the organization. The program involves two one-year assignments based in one of GAF's plants, supplemented by training courses and interactive curriculum focused on problem-solving, critical thinking, technical skills, product/process knowledge, and leadership capabilities. Upon completion, participants will be prepared for a Process/Project Engineer II role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)
  • Four-year degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering
  • Previous internship or co-op related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer sponsored visa (work permit).

Responsibilities

  • Rotate through various experiential learning opportunities anchored to a manufacturing plant location for years 1 and 2.
  • Provide immediate impact to the business, gain exposure to leadership, and experience various parts of the business within 24 months.
  • Build skills while working alongside multidisciplinary engineers and functional areas.
  • Discover greatest career potential through challenging and rewarding experiences.
  • Complete two rewarding assignments, each one year in duration, partnering with Operations Leadership and the Program Manager.
  • Be assigned various individual initiatives and take on relevant roles within a Plant Operations Team during each rotation.
  • Lead process design reviews, raw material qualifications, and capability studies.
  • Support all plant product, process, and materials trials.
  • Develop cost savings opportunities related to process, procedures, raw materials, and waste.
  • Proactively identify engineering opportunities and apply technical expertise to develop and present feasible solutions.
  • Lead and/or participate in providing process/mechanical designs and evaluations for capital projects.
  • Participate in and support product improvement and new product development efforts.
  • Fulfill specific manufacturing/operations accountabilities as assigned based on engineering discipline expertise.
