The Large Power System Division currently has an open Engineering Project Team Leader position located in Lafayette, IN. The position is focused on the product maintenance / development / quality / performance of Air Valves. The successful candidate will successfully manage NTI/NPI/CPI/Maintenance work within the Air Shutoff, Wastegate, Compressor Bypass, and Sequential Valve design control. Role Definition: As the Engineering Lead on this team, you will be responsible for reacting and responding to the needs of the business while managing their own development, knowledge and skill. The lead engineer will focus on AoS, cost reduction, technology development, and standard work. Additionally, up to 50% of this assignment will be as an individual contributor, bringing technical expertise to projects within the team.

Requirements

  • Degree required in an accredited Engineering, Technology, or Materials Science curriculum.
  • Extensive knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.
  • Expert knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product management environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
  • Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.

  • Cost and delivery, specifically for air valves on large engines consumed globally
  • Developing and coaching a team of engineers both on & offsite
  • Delivering sound technical decisions to meet metrics under minimal guidance

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scope to address business challenges and opportunities.
  • Coordinating resources across the businesses with sales and marketing, product development groups, value chain and manufacturing.
  • Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.
  • Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.
