About The Position

Caterpillar's Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) is seeking an Engineering Project Team Leader to drive the development and execution of innovative generator set packaging solutions that power critical industries around the globe. In this high-impact leadership role, you will guide a team of talented Design Control Engineers responsible for the mechanical systems that support Caterpillar's industry-leading power generation products. You'll have the opportunity to influence product strategy, solve complex technical challenges, and lead projects from concept through implementation while working alongside some of the industry's top engineering talent.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Extensive knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Extensive knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.
  • Expert knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Extensive knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system.
  • Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product management environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience designing and validating structural components and systems.
  • Manufacturing or factory support experience.
  • Knowledge of engine, genset, or power generation systems.
  • Proficiency with Creo or other 3D CAD/modeling software.
  • Familiarity with APQP, NPI, CPI, and NTI product development processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers.
  • Drive the design and development of new products, systems, and processes.
  • Lead technical discussions and resolve complex engineering challenges.
  • Partner with customers to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality expectations.
  • Lead product validation activities to ensure reliability and performance targets are achieved.
  • Support manufacturing by addressing shop-floor and production-related issues.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and product teams globally.
  • Help shape long-term product and supplier strategies.
  • Manage team priorities, resources, and budgets.
