About The Position

The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for reviewing and preparing fiber optic construction projects prior to production. This role bridges the gap between engineering design and field construction by evaluating project designs, identifying potential issues, and ensuring projects are ready for successful execution. The position requires strong knowledge of fiber optic engineering, construction practices, and project management to ensure designs are accurate, feasible, and aligned with field conditions before being released to production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in fiber optic engineering, telecommunications construction, or project management.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic network design, splice diagrams, and OSP construction practices.
  • Experience working with IQGEO, GIS, Ocius-X, or similar telecom project systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate engineering designs and identify potential construction issues.
  • Strong project management, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to travel as needed to various project sites and markets, which may require long hours and flexibility in schedule.
  • Ability to respond to the needs of a 24/7/365 operation.
  • Must be able to work emergency schedules during natural disasters and network outages.
  • Individuals must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record meeting the company and insurance policy conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Review fiber optic network designs, splice diagrams, and construction drawings to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and readiness for construction.
  • Evaluate engineering packages and project documentation prior to release to production to identify design conflicts, constructability issues, or missing information.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and field teams to resolve design concerns and ensure projects meet operational and construction requirements.
  • Provide technical feedback to engineering teams and support design revisions when field conditions or project requirements require adjustments.
  • Manage the project review process to ensure designs move efficiently from engineering review to production readiness.
  • Track project status, review timelines, and ensure projects remain aligned with construction schedules and program goals.
  • Utilize IQGEO, Ocius-X, GIS, and related systems to review project data and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Conduct virtual or field-based reviews as necessary to validate design accuracy and site conditions.
  • Support quality control initiatives by ensuring projects meet internal standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Communicate project readiness, risks, and recommendations to leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties assigned to support construction quality, project timelines, and operational needs.
