About The Position

Apple is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to coordinate and apply in-depth expertise on security and project management to develop and ship security software by defining and driving forward new features. This role involves consulting on issues in existing software, managing the security program, collecting complex information, identifying and closing information gaps, developing documentation, making recommendations, and executing plans for mitigations. The position requires coordinating cross-functional teams, collecting deliverables, and gathering requirements to drive projects in the security space, ensuring high-quality software that meets global regulations and compliance obligations like the DMA. The role involves managing risk in software releases, tracking critical development work, identifying and resolving issues, and driving software teams through setbacks by understanding engineering schedules, identifying solutions, and executing plans. It also requires ensuring cross-functional adherence to engineering, technical, and regulatory requirements, planning for and solving unexpected issues, and communicating updates. The role involves using and writing documentation in tools like Quip, email, Confluence, and Slack, and developing methods to accurately communicate issue status. Proficiency in using tools such as Wrike, Keynote, OmniPlan, and Radar for planning, and developing and communicating high-level status of complex project plans is essential. The role also includes leading strategic planning for the development of process and project management tools and implementing long-term strategy, understanding and communicating business needs, and writing technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • 3 years of experience with Computer Security experience to manage complex software development programs.
  • 3 years of experience with Technical Writing to capture complex software requirements for engineering, summarizing content and requirements for executive-level discussions, and determining and creating status from technical documents.
  • 3 years of experience with Work breakdown structure and scheduling to take complex software designs and turn it into a plan with engineering resources.
  • 3 years of experience with Risk Management to identify risk in a large software program.
  • 3 years of experience with Task Management, e.g. Kanban and Agile, to ensure that tasks are given adequate time to complete, Track tasks throughout their lifecycle using one of various methods like kanban, agile, or waterfall.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and apply in-depth expertise on security and project management to develop and ship security software by defining and driving forward new features.
  • Consult on issues that arise in existing software and manage the security program.
  • Collect complex information, identify existing information, discover and close gaps in information, develop succinct documentation to capture information on the issues, make recommendations on how to proceed, and develop and execute plans to implement mitigations to issues.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, collect deliverables, and gather requirements to drive projects forward in the security space.
  • Ensure that various security sub-organizations are able to maintain high quality software that meets global regulations throughout the year.
  • Responsible for ensuring we track work to meet the requirements laid out in the DMA in addition to other compliance obligations.
  • Identify, escalate, and communicate key issues while also driving them to closure and develop strategies to improve the release of this software.
  • Manage risk in software releases leading up to customer launch by tracking critical development work necessary, recognizing when issues arise, and driving those issues to closure.
  • Drive Software Teams through setbacks and bottlenecks by understanding complex engineering schedules, aide in identifying potential solutions, develop plans for solutions, and execute.
  • Ensure cross-functional adherence to engineering hardware, software, technical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and solve unexpected issues as they arise and communicate updates.
  • Use and write documentation about issues that arise in tools such as quip, email, confluence, and slack.
  • Develop methods to accurately communicate the state of issues.
  • Use tools such as Wrike, Keynote, OmniPlan, radar to develop well-thought through plans.
  • Develop and communicate high-level status of complex project plans.
