About The Position

The Manufacturing Technology Platforms team within Operations Innovation develops and scales reusable manufacturing technologies that improve product quality, operational efficiency, process control, and manufacturing performance across Medtronic's global manufacturing network. Within this organization, the Imaging portfolio is responsible for standardized machine vision platforms and capabilities that support automated inspection, dimensional measurement, quality control, and data-driven manufacturing decisions. The team collaborates across engineering, quality, operations, information technology, manufacturing sites, and external suppliers to deploy scalable technology solutions that accelerate digital transformation and advanced manufacturing capabilities. This position is based at the Rice Creek facility in Fridley, Minnesota. The role follows a hybrid work arrangement with an on-site presence expected four days per week and one remote workday per week. Travel is expected approximately 10-20% domestically and internationally to support manufacturing site engagements and deployment activities. The Engineering Program Manager leads multiple complex engineering programs within the Imaging portfolio, translating portfolio strategy into executable program plans and driving delivery of machine vision technologies across global manufacturing environments. This role provides technical program leadership across cross-functional teams and is responsible for coordinating platform development, validation, deployment, and sustainment activities that support reusable hardware, software, algorithms, inspection methods, and manufacturing capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Business, Computer Science OR advanced degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; bachelor's degree requires 7+ years of program management, engineering, manufacturing operations, or technology deployment experience.
  • Experience leading large-scale, cross-functional programs within a matrixed organization.
  • Experience developing program governance frameworks, operating mechanisms, integrated schedules, and executive reporting.
  • Experience working within Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience managing stakeholders, priorities, dependencies, risks, and business outcomes across multiple workstreams.
  • Professional experience in the Medical Device Industry

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with machine vision, computer vision, industrial imaging, automated inspection, optics, cameras, sensors, image-processing algorithms, dimensional measurement, or manufacturing automation technologies.
  • Experience leading platform-based engineering programs utilizing reusable hardware, software, interface, validation, and deployment frameworks across multiple sites.
  • Experience in regulated industries requiring formal verification, validation, traceability, risk management, and change control processes.
  • Experience with portfolio and project management tools such as Planisware, Microsoft Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or Power BI.
  • PMP, Program Management Professional (PgMP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Professional Scrum Master, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple concurrent engineering programs across the Imaging portfolio, including machine vision inspection, dimensional measurement, label inspection, seal inspection, and related imaging technologies.
  • Define program scope, deliverables, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and governance requirements in partnership with engineering and business leaders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engineering activities spanning hardware, software, controls, optics, sensors, algorithms, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and manufacturing equipment integration.
  • Manage program execution through concept development, feasibility, planning, validation, deployment, launch, and sustainment using Agile, Scrum, waterfall, and hybrid methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain integrated schedules, monitor critical path activities, manage dependencies, and implement recovery plans when program performance deviates from plan.
  • Lead technical reviews, risk assessments, issue resolution activities, design review readiness, and stage-gate deliverables while ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Manage supplier and manufacturing site engagement activities, including technical deliverables, acceptance criteria, installation readiness, validation planning, and deployment support.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on program status, financial performance, resource utilization, risks, decisions, and portfolio progress.
