About The Position

Amazon is hiring Building Technicians to support its data centers. The Building Operations Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The Building Technician serves as a technical resource to support Amazon within its data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. Building Technicians are also tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities. Building Technicians are Amazon’s front line respondents for electrical and mechanical issues affecting Amazon's availability. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, switchboards/switch-gears, UPS’s, PDU’s, AHU’s, CRAHUs, CRAC's, pumps, motors, VFD’s, and building automation systems. This position requires that the candidate selected obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Must obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.

  • 2+ years of data center engineering experience

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
  • Serving as a technical resource to support Amazon within its data centers.
  • Driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
  • Acting as Amazon’s front line respondents for electrical and mechanical issues affecting Amazon's availability.
  • Performing planned preventive maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency interventions.
  • Managing small to medium-sized projects from conception to completion.
  • Obtaining and tracking quotes for all necessary costs.
  • Documenting project results for future implementation in other facilities.
  • Supporting engineering operations technicians and any third-party vendors by providing assistance with electrical and mechanical equipment operation and troubleshooting in the field.
