POSITION OVERVIEW : The Engineering Manager is responsible for leadership within the MPG -Brentwood Engineering organization. The manager leads a team with expertise in microelectronic RF design & test , mechanical , PWB layout, and process engineering , and is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing engineering personnel with maximum efficiency. The Engineering Manager also drives problem-solving activities and provides ownership throughout the organization for corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen or permanent resident – green card holder)
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or commensurate demonstrated equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in design engineering or 10+ years of experience in microelectronics industry
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering management/leadership
  • Experience managing projects with medium complexity and a high-volume of data
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with ability to communicate within all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of disciplines in a dynamic environment and motivate them to work together as a team
  • Self-driven, adaptable and resourceful; able to work under limited supervision
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to translate vision into action
  • Experienced user of ERP systems (IFS, Oracle, etc.)
  • Computer and Microsoft Office literate (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience in creating and managing a departmental budget

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a clean room production environment preferred
  • Prior problem-solving training and/or certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams with expertise in RF design & test, mechanical, PWB layout, and process engineering
  • Develop high-performing teams focused on achieving segment performance objectives
  • Develop and manage key metrics and KPIs relevant to business and operational excellence
  • Provide operational support and guidance to ensure maximum productivity and schedule attainment
  • Create a culture of accountability and ownership of design, development, and production support
  • Develop and maintain processes to prevent and/or address design issues or production delays
  • Work closely with program management to ensure customer requirements are met
  • When applicable, work and interface directly with the customer to ensure accurate and timely exchange of information and status
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify risks and close operational gaps
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that improve the department’s performance
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address quality concerns
  • Develop good working relationships with stakeholders, internal and external, to ensure effective communication of accurate, relevant, and timely information
  • Coordinate resources between projects and proposals, working with program management and site leadership to determine priorities
  • Manage resource capacity planning to ensure effective support of all projects
  • Maintain department’s adherence to industry standards (e.g. ISO9001, MIL-PRF-38534, etc.)
  • Manage department budget responsibly, including capital requests & justifications
  • Manage group software licensing, including upgrades and proposals for new tools
  • Prepare, submit, and present periodic reports at multiple levels withing the organization, including executive leadership

  • Conduct reviews with team member(s) to build effective communication, to understand training and development needs, and to provide insight for performance improvement.
  • Develop and facilitate comprehensive onboarding and new hire training for their assigned team.
  • Build team unity to encourage retention and continuity of operations.
  • Provide training and leadership and act as a change agent while representing a positive and enthusiastic role model to ensure high engagement across the team.
