About The Position

FabLogix, part of Kelso Industries, is seeking an Engineering Manager to serve as the technical lead for its modular fabrication business. The role oversees engineering design from preliminary client concepts through final designs ready for manufacturing, supporting pipe fabrication, modular assembly, and structural steel projects for data center and life sciences/pharmaceutical markets. The manager leads a multidisciplinary team of consulting engineers in mechanical, electrical, pipe stress analysis, structural, and instrumentation and controls disciplines. The Engineering Manager is the primary technical resource for Project Managers and works directly with client engineers to resolve design questions, complete designs, and ensure deliverables support fast-paced fabrication schedules. The position requires proficiency across engineering CAD and modeling platforms and sound judgment managing technical risk across disciplines and consultants. The role collaborates with fabrication, project management, quality, and estimating to support efficient shop execution, code compliance, and proposal development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Process, Structural, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • At least 8 years of engineering experience, including multidisciplinary project or team leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple engineering CAD and modeling platforms, such as AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, Caesar II, or similar.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable codes across disciplines, including ASME piping codes, AISC structural standards, and NEC/instrumentation standards.
  • Experience managing outside engineering consultants and multidisciplinary design coordination.
  • Technically credible leadership and ability to direct engineers across disciplines and earn trust with client engineering counterparts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining technical rigor.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including resolving design conflicts and keeping projects moving toward fabrication.
  • Clear communication skills to translate technical issues for project managers, clients, and shop personnel.
  • Collaborative, hands-on approach and willingness to work through design details with the team.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • Process engineering or mechanical engineering background is a plus.
  • Experience in modular fabrication, industrial piping, or capital project delivery is ideal.
  • Experience supporting data center or life sciences/pharmaceutical projects is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organization's technical lead and provide engineering direction and final technical sign-off across active modular fabrication projects.
  • Act as the primary technical resource for Project Managers, resolving design questions and escalations.
  • Set engineering standards, design review protocols, and quality expectations across disciplines.
  • Make or guide technical decisions on design approach, constructability, and fabrication feasibility.
  • Manage and coordinate consulting engineers across mechanical, electrical, pipe stress analysis, structural, and instrumentation and controls disciplines.
  • Allocate engineering resources and consultant assignments across concurrent projects to meet design and fabrication schedules.
  • Review and approve multidisciplinary deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Evaluate, onboard, and manage the performance of outside engineering consultants and firms.
  • Lead design development from preliminary design through final design for manufacturing, ensuring designs are fabrication-ready.
  • Work with client engineers to clarify design intent, resolve technical questions, and manage design changes.
  • Drive design completion against project schedules while maintaining code compliance and quality.
  • Support design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical clarifications during proposal and early project phases.
  • Maintain proficiency across engineering CAD and modeling platforms used by in-house and consulting engineers.
  • Standardize design tools, templates, and modeling practices to improve consistency and throughput.
  • Support pipe stress analysis and code compliance efforts, including applicable ASME piping codes.
  • Improve engineering processes to support faster, more reliable design-to-fabrication handoff.
  • Partner with fabrication and project management to ensure designs translate efficiently into shop execution.
  • Coordinate with quality on weld procedures, material specifications, and code compliance requirements.
  • Provide estimating with technical input on scope, design complexity, and engineering hours for proposals.
