About The Position

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform whose mission is to increase the GDP of the internet. The Self Serve Direct Onboarding team helps businesses start using Stripe products quickly and confidently by building self-service experiences for providing business information and completing required checks. The team translates financial, regulatory, and verification requirements into clear steps, influencing how quickly businesses can get started and the trust they place in Stripe. The team builds a shared product activation experience that helps businesses start using new financial capabilities as they grow, avoids repeated information, and makes onboarding easier for product teams to integrate. It is also improving current onboarding journeys and establishing foundations for onboarding through user interfaces, AI agents, or agents acting on users’ behalf. The Engineering Manager sets engineering direction in partnership with Product and Design and develops the team delivering it. The role balances improving activation with shaping onboarding for people and AI agents, using product judgment to decide where to experiment, build reusable foundations, and measure progress through faster activation, fewer repeated steps, and reliable outcomes. The manager aligns teams across Stripe, resolves dependencies, coaches engineers, and gives them meaningful ownership.
