The Engineering Manager position is responsible for building and leading a team of technicians and engineers of various levels to carry out tasks and projects in support of business objectives. This role requires the execution of a defined team strategy through effective leadership, consistent and reliable delivery, and continuous improvement of methods within the assigned scope.

Requirements

  • 5-10+ years of similar or related experience working in a technical field.
  • 3-5+ years of direct team leadership experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in both formal and informal conversations.
  • Good organizational skills and demonstrated high emotional intelligence.
  • Able to organize, prioritize, and complete responsibilities in a timely manner without external motivation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, organizational skill, and professional work habits.
  • Able to quickly achieve and maintain a high degree of trust and confidence with reporting team, as well as with internal and external customers.
  • Must be a US Citizen for positions at the North Mankato facility.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar technical science field.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of team KPIs and performance metrics, management of team time and effort prioritization to support achieving management defined KPIs and metrics.
  • Lead and delegate cost-reduction project activity – schedule and prioritize these tasks with applicable resources and other groups to achieve cost-out targets in parallel with daily tactical team responsibilities.
  • Effectively manage dynamic task variety and provide clear, concise direction for their team to execute, with projects ranging from very long-term efforts to short-notice and critical needs.
  • Owns and manages workload capacity of reporting team, and consults with direct manager on anticipated headcount needs or other capacity related topics.
  • Formal performance management of direct reports, including reviews, corrective actions, goals, performance improvement plans, and other related tasks as required.
  • Consult for direct reports to support research and analysis of data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Coach direct reporting team to provide advisement for sales and marketing groups to support new product developments, cost reduction initiatives, product manufacturing qualifications, and other custom requests.
  • Other Activities as directed by management to support business needs.
