About The Position

Anthropic is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on building AI-powered cybersecurity products. This role involves research, product development, and go-to-market strategies. The team will prototype and launch products utilizing frontier models to enhance code and infrastructure security. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for setting technical direction, collaborating with research to translate model capabilities into products, and engaging with customers to ensure the team builds relevant solutions. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where the manager will be involved in coding, customer interactions, and research reviews. A key aspect of the role is scaling the team while maintaining its prototyping energy.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of experience managing engineers, with responsibility for hiring, performance, and technical direction.
  • Experience shipping cybersecurity products in production (e.g., SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, application security, threat detection, incident response, security automation).
  • Experience taking a team from prototype to scaled enterprise deployment, including acquiring first paying customers.
  • Technical and hands-on capability, comfortable with design reviews and team's code.
  • Strong product instincts and a track record of guiding teams on product decisions.
  • Clear communication skills across functions, capable of aligning research, product, GTM, and executive partners through ambiguity.
  • Treat direct customer contact as a primary input for the roadmap.
  • Commitment to Anthropic's mission and to developing AI responsibly and safely.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on security expertise in areas like application security, vulnerability research, reverse engineering, incident response, penetration testing, or detection engineering.
  • Experience building products on LLMs, including agentic systems, evaluations, and prompt/model iteration loops.
  • Experience in strict data-handling environments (BYOC, CMEK, regulated industries, governments).
  • Experience in both startup and enterprise-scale companies.
  • Experience working closely with research to translate capabilities into shipped products.
  • Experience with ecosystem partnerships and integrations with MCP, CI/CD, or source-control.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the team, including hiring, performance management, and fostering a culture that supports engineers.
  • Set technical direction and manage the roadmap, encompassing prototyping, enterprise hardening, and platform investments, in collaboration with Product Management and Product Marketing.
  • Partner with research to identify valuable model capabilities for productization and provide feedback on capability gaps hindering customer value.
  • Engage with customers, design partners, and the security community to inform product strategy and unblock the team.
  • Make architectural decisions for agentic scanning pipelines, model orchestration, customer-facing interfaces, CI/source-control integrations, and underlying data infrastructure.
  • Improve team velocity by removing bottlenecks and refining operating rhythms, while maintaining high standards for quality, security, and reliability.
  • Coordinate with Go-to-Market, partnerships, and other product teams for joint launches and ecosystem integrations.
  • Develop the next layer of leadership within the team to support expanding responsibilities.
