About The Position

This position will function as the Technical Liaison between critical suppliers and engineering and project management teams in support of development programs and product lines. As part of an Integrated Project Team (IPT) you will interface internally and externally with all engineering disciplines as well as the program and business management team members throughout the project design and development process. Duties include the facilitation of supplier compliance to system specifications, schedule, and customer expectations. Ensure Supply Chain technical issues are resolved in a timely fashion, and in accordance with contract and specification requirements. Create and maintain excellent supplier relationships through thorough and detailed communication and the management of expectations and commitments. Provide technical analysis of supplier proposals and data submissions as required. Must have excellent technical and business problem solving skills. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, self-motivated, problem solver that understands how to motivate and drive performance in the supply base.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or the equivalent with electronics manufacturing or systems integration experience.
  • Minimum 8-12 years of related experience.
  • Project management experience highly desirable
  • Must be able to maintain security clearance.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Master’s degree a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall management of supplier development efforts for all programs.
  • Work as the Engineering liaison between the TTM and supplier engineering communities
  • This will require the management of supplier technical meetings and on-site visits.
  • Must be able to chair and moderate supplier design and technical reviews for development programs.
  • Participate in Integrated Program Teams (IPT).
  • Monitor supplier progress of complex development programs.
  • Work with supplier to ensure their Integrated Master Schedule/plans addresses all contract requirements.
  • Evaluate and validate supplier schedule progress and assess delays and develop workarounds to mitigate impact.
  • Manage technical communication and coordination with development suppliers.
  • Monitor communications for scope and spec creep.
  • Manage suppliers to ensure closure of all supplier-related action items
  • Review RFP and supplier proposal documentation.
  • Review of supplier technical proposals and work scope.
  • Ensure that suppliers provide complete compliance matrices with their proposals.
  • Review pricing and provide technical support of price analysis as needed
  • Coordinate initial and ongoing development supplier meetings
  • Interacts frequently with all levels of engineering, subcontracts, program management, and suppliers to discuss and resolve issues that affect project design, schedule, and quality.
  • Interaction with customers and their representatives may also be necessary
  • Research, evaluate and recommend new suppliers in support of Telephonics development and product line requirements.
  • Evaluate suppliers’ overall risk regarding their capabilities, compliance, and financial stability.
  • Evaluate suppliers’ suitability to be a second source or replacement supplier for qualified product.
  • Conduct supplier audits as required
  • Evaluate Supplier Risk Management and Obsolescence plans and mitigation strategies for their adequacy and implementation
  • Review and author Statements of Work, Supplier Proposal Technical Evaluations.
  • Evaluate the completeness of Supplier Data Items/ disseminate internally for review and approval
  • Monitor supplier’s development and qualification testing as required
  • Provides engineering support to Supply Chain and Program Teams on supplier issues to maintain project schedule, specification compliance, and product quality.
  • Must be familiar with standard project management metrics and tools and be able to apply them to manage supplier development programs as required.
  • Must be familiar with MS Project
  • Provide support for subcontracts business issues, including contact IP and Licensing terms for negotiations and resolution with suppliers as required.
  • Chair Best Value Supplier Selections (BVSS) as required
  • Investigate and mitigate the cause of subcontractor problems by researching reports, data sheets, specifications, test data, procedures, drawings, operation sheets, etc, and accounting for other variables such as operator training.
  • Work with the Supplier Quality team as needed to resolve ongoing supplier issues with defective product
  • Able to comprehend complex engineering literature and specifications.
  • Able to write administrative and technical reports and standard operating procedures, communicate at a highly technical level with engineers, subcontracts, program management and leadership, present complex engineering ideas and technical information to customers and others
