About The Position

Under the direction of the R&D Engineering Team Lead, the Engineering Lab Refrigeration Technician will work independently or in conjunction with a team of cross-functional professionals to assemble, instrument, test and document the process and results through written reports. This individual will also assist with maintaining a safe, clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent in Engineering or HVAC&R
  • 3 years of relevant experience
  • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment for refrigeration equipment
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience with Data acquisition systems
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools, power tools, model shop machinery and measuring devices
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge and experience brazing and soldering for refrigeration and electrical
  • Knowledge and experience in handling refrigerants
  • Knowledge and experience in the basic refrigerant processing steps for evacuation, charging, recovering and reclaiming refrigerants
  • Ability to apply common sense and practical reasoning for performing tasks in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to talk, hear, stand, walk, feel, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Maintain a positive work attitude.

  • Safety toe shoes and safety glasses are required while in production areas.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk throughout the office and production areas; have use of hands and fingers to use a computer, telephone, and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Utilization of National Instruments LabView considered a strong bonus.
  • Experience with SolidWorks a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate parts and assemblies from concept drawings and sketches
  • Assemble products from concept drawings and sketches
  • Assemble refrigeration systems as instructed, including mechanical assembly, brazing, refrigeration processing and electrical
  • Set-up and instrument products with necessary test equipment to perform tests via verbal or written instructions
  • Run tests using computerized data acquisition systems or standalone test instrumentation
  • Assist in analyzing test data through Excel or other software products
  • Write comprehensive reports to communicate test set-ups and results
  • Purchase equipment, tools and supplies as directed
  • Travel solo or with others as needed for tradeshows or customer sites and write reports for trip summaries
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment
  • Work collaboratively or independently to complete tasks to achieve company objectives
  • Other duties as assigned
