About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Lab Technician Co-Op to join the Electrical Wiring Devices Team in Syracuse, NY for Summer/Fall 2026. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to support laboratory testing and evaluation of electrical wiring device products. The ideal candidate will be interested in hands-on electrical/mechanical testing, product development support, and data collection/analysis using electronic test equipment. The Co-Op will be for the period of summer and fall semester with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs. The Engineering Lab Technician Co-Op will work under the supervision of Test Engineers within the Electrical Wiring Devices team to provide a range of support, including but not limited to, research and development testing during product creation, preparing test samples and equipment for evaluation, inspecting products for flaws and identifying areas for improvement, and collecting/recording/analyzing test data using electronic test equipment and Microsoft Office tools.

Requirements

  • Within one year of Associate of Science Degree in EE Technology (or equivalent field of study) or pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Interest in electrical products and residential or commercial electrical systems
  • Interest in electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and meters
  • Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Experience programming microcontrollers is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Test electrical products for mechanical and electrical performance
  • Assist with research and development testing during creation phase of product
  • In collaboration with Test Engineers, inspect products for flaws and identify areas of improvement
  • Collect, record, and analyze data using electronic test equipment
  • Prepare test samples and equipment for evaluation
  • Perform mechanical and endurance testing (e.g., cycle testing, torque testing, plug insertion/withdrawal force)
  • Support lab activities through proper use and basic upkeep of laboratory equipment and tools
  • Assist with documentation of test results, summaries, and reports for internal
