About The Position

Raytheon Vision Systems is seeking an Engineering Lab Manager to lead operations in our advanced semiconductor, focal plane array, and electro‑optical device Test laboratories. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of multiple technical labs while supporting ongoing R&D, engineering, and production activities. The ideal candidate combines technical experience with leadership, organizational skills and the ability to manage complex lab workflows in a fast-paced environment. This is an onsite role in Goleta, CA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a related STEM discipline and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related STEM field and minimum 5 years' experience
  • Knowledge of implementing laboratory safety protocols, EHS procedures, and chemical‑handling requirements.
  • Experience in laboratories that support electro‑optical, semiconductor, MEMS, infrared detector, or similar device development.
  • Responsibility leading, supervising, and/or managing activities within a technical laboratory environment.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Raytheon Vision Systems labs, equipment, or processes.
  • Background in facility upgrades, lab buildouts, or capital equipment deployment.
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and controlled lab environments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of RVS engineering and development labs, including equipment utilization, workflow coordination, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Lead a team of lab technicians, specialists, and support staff, providing direction, mentorship, training, and performance guidance.
  • Manage laboratory assets, including equipment maintenance schedules, calibration, documentation, and lifecycle planning.
  • Partner with engineering, R&D, program leadership, and facilities teams to support experiments, builds, testing, and development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, cleanroom, chemical handling, and security requirements.
  • Establish, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures, lab configuration control, and equipment access policies.
  • Coordinate procurement of lab consumables, tools, materials, and replacement parts; manage budgets and cost controls.
  • Support capacity planning and future lab capability development, including capital equipment selection and installation oversight.
  • Drive continuous improvement in lab efficiency, safety, organization, and technical capability.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams to ensure labs meet evolving engineering and program needs.
