As an Engineering Intern within Covestro, incumbents will be responsible for a wide range of engineering activities to support day-to-day operations, and to improve the safety, reliability and of the efficiency of our production units and our work processes. Candidates must be available for a 3-month assignment during the Summer of 2027 (late May to early August). Related to this position, Covestro offers: A team-based approach to identify improvement opportunities, to analyze and to develop solutions, and to complete implementation with a goal to improve plant reliability, safety, compliance with environmental requirements, and profitability of the production units at the Baytown site. Continuous coaching & assistance – You’ll work with passionate people and receive both training assistance, and feedback from your teammates and your manager to help you apply your education to real life challenges while working on a chemical production site. Complex and interesting work that may include assisting the units with day-to-day operational and maintenance needs, using proven methodologies to eliminate defects, improving reliability, optimizing processes, and/or developing capital projects. Typically, summer assignments will focus on one of the following functional areas: Maintenance/Reliability Engineering, Instrument and Electrical Engineering, Production Support Engineering, Automation and Control Engineering, Environmental and Process Safety Engineering, or Project Engineering A chance to contribute to a meaningful mission and demonstrate your potential through a wide variety of projects. Successful completion of this internship program may lead to full-time employment, or a recurring opportunity based on performance of the candidates and availability of the position.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program with a major in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Completion of Freshman year
  • Overall GPA of 3.0

Nice To Haves

  • Desire to work and learn in an operating chemical plant
  • Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a wide range of engineering activities to support day-to-day operations.

  • Engage in responsibilities in various operational areas involving significant team interaction, potentially focusing on Maintenance/Reliability Engineering, Instrument and Electrical Engineering, Production Support Engineering, Automation and Control Engineering, Environmental and Process Safety Engineering, or Project Engineering.
