Engineering Internship

Hybron IncHawthorne, CA
Onsite

About The Position

Hybron is an advanced manufacturing company focused on mass-producing lightweight composites. They have developed a novel composites manufacturing process that significantly reduces production time and cost for complex, high-performance composite parts. The company has secured $25M in seed funding, is supported by the Northrop Grumman Technology Accelerator, and is expanding to commercialize its technology for applications in artillery shells, rocket motor nozzles, gas turbine engine components, and airframes. Hybron seeks individuals passionate about cutting-edge composites technology, supporting defense capabilities, and contributing to U.S. manufacturing. This is a full-time, in-person internship role at their Hawthorne facility, lasting at least 10 weeks. As part of an early-stage deep tech startup, interns will engage in a variety of tasks, requiring self-starters who are adaptable. The role offers a significant opportunity to influence product development and the company's trajectory. The internship aims to provide hands-on experience with Hybron's composites manufacturing process and technology, while also allowing interns to work on impactful engineering projects. Strong performance may lead to a return offer for a subsequent internship or a full-time position. Interns will be assigned one or more major projects, which could include designing, modeling, and tolerancing composite parts and tooling; preparing and processing composite materials; fabricating tooling from various materials; operating, setting up, and maintaining machinery (presses, ovens, CNC machines, 3D printers, etc.); performing mechanical, cosmetic, non-destructive, and destructive testing; designing and executing experiments for materials and processes; and designing and building automated systems and robots.
