About The Position

SPX Technologies is offering a paid summer internship supporting the Research and Development Engineering team. The Engineering Lab Intern will assist with continuous improvement efforts and gain hands-on experience across engineering work related to design, analysis, testing, and product and equipment development. The role includes supporting assigned technical projects, preparing mock-ups, conducting process tests and equipment qualifications, learning to use test and measurement equipment, and improving laboratory efficiency. The position is associated with SPX’s Patterson-Kelley products and commercial heating industry, as described in the posting.

Requirements

• Be a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another related engineering field.
• Have completed the second year of engineering studies.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and self-direction.
• Be eligible to work in the United States; the company will not provide sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with technical drawings.
• Mechanical aptitude for machines and tools.
• Hands-on technical experience with Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Support the engineering team in carrying out technical activities for assigned projects.
• Assist with mock-up preparation, process testing, and equipment qualifications.
• Learn and use test and measurement equipment for product testing of mechanical or electronic systems.
• Improve the efficiency of the laboratory workspace.
• Lead other projects as assigned or proposed.
