About The Position
Calling all undergrad civil engineering students! Collins offers an opportunity for a civil engineering student to gain experience doing construction inspections. The Downers Grove, IL, office has an opening for a Civil/Construction Engineering Intern position for Summer 2027. This position will spend the majority of your day in the field on active construction projects. Collins Engineer, Inc., provides design and analysis services coupled with field experience to the transportation, marine, construction, and land development industries. Requirements
- Junior or senior working towards a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- A valid driver's license.
Nice To Haves
- Previous software experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Blue Beam, or Civil 3D is a plus.
- Previous software experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDF or other PDF editing software is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Focuses primarily on heavy highway and bridge construction projects.
- Assist in the completion of construction inspections and field reporting.
- Responsible for ensuring the construction is following applicable standards and contract drawings.
- Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
