By becoming a Lehigh Valley Public Media Engineering Intern, you will have a meaningful, hands-on experience that will allow you to explore the world of television, video, and audio production for a non-profit organization. Engineering interns learn under the supervision of industry professionals, while working directly on vital station projects that leave an impact on the Greater Lehigh Valley community. We are looking for interns that want to learn how to run the technical infrastructure of a television station. Here are some of the areas you will be involved in, and experience, during an internship at LVPM. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Gain hands-on engineering experience in a fast-paced media environment. Our interns learn to install, maintain, and troubleshoot broadcast and non-broadcast equipment for a major media company. Mentored by the engineering staff, you will support daily television operations, news productions, podcasts, and digital distribution platforms. What You Will Learn & Do · Master Broadcast Systems: Build practical knowledge of studio, newsgathering, production, master control, automation, and transmission infrastructure. · Troubleshoot Technical Issues: Apply digital, audio, and video theory to diagnose and resolve real-world equipment problems. · Build Networking Skills: Acquire and implement essential TCP/IP networking skills within a live broadcast environment. · Manage Automation Tools: Gain direct proficiency with industry-standard broadcast switchers and station automation technologies. · Read & Build Infrastructure: Learn to interpret complex interconnect diagrams and perform precise cable terminations. · Maintain Regulatory Compliance: Understand how to operate a station in alignment with FCC regulations and standard engineering practices.
