About The Position

Heartland Food Products Group is a global leader in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry, producing low-calorie sweeteners, coffee, coffee creamers and liquid water enhancers. The Engineering Intern will be involved in work and/or research centered on key roles supported by Heartland FPG including Sales, Engineering, Quality, Production and Research. Interns could also have the opportunity to participate in client and consultant meetings as well as communication and research initiatives. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in and learn about production side of business.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Business, Food Science or a related technical field
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Very task-oriented
  • Self-starter
  • Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes all food safety and food security guidelines, including Safe Quality Foods (SQF) good manufacturing practices and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points.
  • Assist in coordinating the activities of the employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, such as packers, machine operators, and blenders.
  • Develops and motivates team to solve own day-to-day operational issues and achieve plant goals through ongoing communication and facilitation of team meetings.
  • Coordinates daily inventories and supplies and other operational activities within or between departments.
  • Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Observes work and monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • All other duties as assigned.
