About The Position

Genius AI is seeking highly motivated and talented engineering interns to join their team for the Summer of 2027. This internship offers the opportunity to work within a live engineering team, contributing to product features that impact hundreds of thousands of service businesses and their clients daily. Interns will work on real features destined for production, gaining exposure to the company's rapid development pace and decision-making processes. The role requires commuting to the NYC headquarters in Union Square and operates in an in-person environment, with a default of 3-4 days in-office per week, including mandatory attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Graduating between 2027 and 2028.
• Coursework or project experience in software engineering.
• Experience using AI to learn faster, debug, and ship, with demonstrable projects built with AI.
• Ability to investigate problems independently before seeking help.
• Proficiency in one or more of JavaScript, TypeScript, Ruby, or Kotlin, with real project experience beyond coursework.
• Comfortable picking up new frameworks and tools quickly.
• Strong problem-solving instincts.
• Ability to work independently or pair with a teammate.
• Clear, direct communication skills, capable of explaining technical tradeoffs.
• Available to work in person from the Union Square, NYC office.

Nice To Haves

• Some exposure to React, Postgres, SQL, or gRPC.

Responsibilities

• Build and test features for web and mobile products alongside senior engineers.
• Architect small pieces of automation with AI, identifying and building systems to remove repeatable work.
• Write clean, efficient code that meets Genius AI engineering standards.
• Own debugging and troubleshooting for assigned projects.
• Partner with data analysts to collect and interpret usage data to inform AI application across the product.
• Iterate on projects with AI-assisted development on a tight cadence, adjusting based on feedback.
• Expand technical range by picking up new languages, frameworks, and AI-native development practices.
