About The Position

Karman is seeking qualified candidates for engineering internships and intern-to-hire positions. We have immediate openings across all functional areas. Our interns work hands-on with a multi-disciplinary engineering team in the development of aerospace-related mechanical and pyrotechnic systems. A major focus of our internships is development of test hardware and prototype testing for technology maturation. Karman Space & Defense provides concept-to-production solutions for mission-critical systems on spacecraft, launch vehicles, missiles, hypersonics, and integrated defense systems. Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering in progress, Junior or Senior year academic status preferred.
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, certain positions may require applicants to be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering student, or recent engineering graduate
  • Strengths in mechanical design, dynamics/kinematics, structural analysis, thermodynamics and/or propulsion
  • Leadership position experience
  • Enjoys solving hard problems

Responsibilities

  • Strong passion for aerospace, and desire to work on and solve challenging technical problems
  • Knowledge and demonstrated interest in aerospace mechanical systems, pyrotechnic systems and/or propulsion systems
  • Knowledge of dynamics/kinematics, structural analysis, CAD, and thermodynamics
  • Use and application of instrumentation and data acquisition for the purpose of conducting engineering tests
  • Hands-on experience in fabrication and production processes, including machining, welding, composites, and assembly
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (green card holder) or other status as a U.S. Person)
