About The Position

Responsible for maintaining the general condition of the property, encompassing basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and painting work. Ensure timely completion of maintenance requests from all departments, participate in the preventive maintenance program, and handle special projects as assigned by the Engineering Leader.

Requirements

  • Basic working knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Ability to handle materials weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Effective communication skills in English with guests, management, and colleagues.
  • Working knowledge of health codes, electrical codes, national/local fire codes, local mechanical codes, blueprints, wiring schematics, and power/hand tools related to technical trades.
  • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills (high school diploma or equivalent).
  • One year as a Utility Engineer.
  • Ability to obtain any government-required licenses or certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on hotel guest rooms and public areas as scheduled, visually inspecting and identifying items needing repair.
  • Maintain timelines and work schedule in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
  • Receive daily work assignments, review priorities and special projects with the Director of Engineering/Engineering Supervisor
  • Respond to guest calls and complaints promptly, positively, and politely.
  • Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
  • Check work orders and night reports for problems, conduct rounds, and address safety concerns in the hotel.
  • Perform electrical work orders, including but not limited to replacing switches, resetting circuit breakers, and using test equipment.
  • Execute plumbing work orders, such as unplugging sinks, toilets, and garbage disposals, and repairing or replacing valves and seals.
  • Act appropriately and think quickly in emergency situations.
  • Perform well under pressure, meet time demands, and work overtime when needed.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks and maintain the work area.
  • Complete other duties as requested, including moving supplies and equipment or cleaning up spills to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure that the job site is clean and orderly after completing all jobs.
  • Report major repairs and items that cannot be fixed to the Office Coordinator and/or Engineering Director for further action.
