Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is looking for an Engineering Helper who fully embodies our values, shares a passion for excellence, and infuses enthusiasm into everything they do. As Engineering Helper, you will be accountable for shaping the client experience by providing exceptional service in support of our world-renowned hotel. Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent experience
  • Experience required by position is from three months to one full year of employment in the related position with Four Seasons or other organizations.
  • Has 5 Certificate of Occupancy requirements.
  • Requires a working technical knowledge of general building maintenance.
  • Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-Job or through a series of professional certifications.
  • Requires knowledge of the ability to operate computer equipment.
  • Ability to read and speak and write English.
  • Must be Local 94 member

Nice To Haves

  • Refrigeration experience and/or associated certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform painting work including, but not limited to: paint-ins, wall paper hanging, plastering, and chalking, refinishing projects, provide service and repairs to hotel equipment including electrical, plumbing, fire & safety, HVAC refrigeration, and respond to inquiries and problems in an efficient, courteous and professional manner to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons’ policies.
  • Maintain the physical property and furnishings in a manner consistent with that of a luxury hotel.
  • Patch, paint, plaster interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Maintain brushes and rollers in good condition.
  • Complete all assigned work in a safe and complete fashion.
  • Use all safety precautions at all times when using tools, chemicals, ladders, or other potentially dangerous equipment or supplies.
  • Install and repair of vinyl and paper wall coverings.
  • Complete all assigned projects in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure a clean neat, and organized work area.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times to reflect the high standards of Four Seasons Hotels.
  • Handle and report any accident immediately, no matter how minor.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other employees.
  • Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.
  • Concentrate on projects concerned with the Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program.
  • Clean all stations in Engineering and maintain a neat and organized department.
  • Respond to all guest complaints regarding the maintenance of their room or public area in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Repair an assortment of items brought to the shop by other departments.
  • Respond to all emergency conditions such as fires, power failures, etc.
  • Understand all guest room electrics and plumbing, drapes & sheers, wiring in the bathroom, and hardware.
  • Provide instruction and encouragement as needed to other employees.
  • Assist in hotel’s effort to conserve energy.
