About The Position

The Role: The Engine and Transmission Controls team is seeking enthusiastic, experienced, and people‑focused engineering leaders to join our organization as Engineering Group Managers. This role provides the opportunity to lead a highly skilled team of engineers responsible for delivering robust, high‑quality controls solutions that meet performance, emissions, quality, cost, and timing objectives. The successful candidate will combine strong technical judgment with effective leadership, execution discipline, and a passion for developing talent in a fast‑paced, matrixed engineering environment. Please note: Multiple position are available which may be aligned to a specific vehicle/engine/transmission programs (vertical leadership) or to core powertrain systems, features, and capabilities across programs (horizontal leadership).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Automotive, or related field).
  • 8+ years of experience in powertrain calibration, controls, or related propulsion systems development.
  • Strong understanding of powertrain operation, emissions, diagnostics, and calibration development processes.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a matrixed, fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of technical or people leadership experience.
  • Experience leading calibration work across multiple vehicle programs or technical domains.
  • Knowledge of global emissions regulations and compliance processes.
  • Demonstrated success driving standardization, process improvement, or capability development.
  • Experience working with global or geographically distributed teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of calibration engineers and technical leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear goals, expectations, and development plans aligned with business priorities.
  • Support performance management, succession planning, and technical capability growth.
  • Ensure delivery of robust engine or transmission controls solutions that meet regulatory, program, and customer requirements.
  • Drive execution excellence across planning, development, validation, and launch phases.
  • Manage priorities, risks, and tradeoffs to achieve quality and timing commitments.
  • Partner closely with hardware, software, emissions compliance, vehicle integration, manufacturing, and program teams to ensure robust system level requirements are met.
  • Represent calibration perspectives in technical reviews, program forums, and leadership discussions.
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and decision-making support on controls, diagnostics and communication strategy, methods, and issue resolution.
  • Promote common processes, standards, and best practices across teams and programs.
  • Leverage data-driven decision making, modern calibration tools, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Align calibration work to broader organizational, regulatory, and product strategies.
  • Support long-term capability planning, workload balancing, and resource alignment.
  • Foster a culture of innovation that focuses on strategic opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and speed.
