In your role as an Engineering Geologist at Mi-Tech, you’ll perform field explorations, collect samples, geologic reconnaissance, mapping, and preparing field reports. You will organize laboratory data, conduct/ review limited soil index property laboratory testing and report data. You will interpret data, prepare geological subsurface logs, profiles, design cross-sections, profiles, and assist in preparation of design reports.

Requirements

  • BS and/or MS Degree in Geology or Engineering Geology
  • 2 years of experience as a Geologist
  • Soil sampling in accordance with USCS standards
  • Some testing experience
  • Have taken or preparing to take Professional Geologist exam
  • Experience in geologic interpretation using soil and rock samples retrieved from explorations
  • Soil classifications
  • The ability to work independently with the appropriate level of minimal supervision
  • The willingness and ability to travel to support project needs
  • A valid driver license and insurable driving record
  • Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel (required)
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying 50+ pounds
  • Working in all weather conditions, on uneven terrain
  • The ability to travel (drive or fly) to field sites per project needs and job sites locally and across the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with application to geotechnical engineering practice is a plus
  • Rock mechanics experience a plus
  • RSLog (geotechnical borehole logging, or similar), MS Access (desirable)
