In your role as an Engineering Geologist at Mi-Tech, you’ll perform field explorations, collect samples, geologic reconnaissance, mapping, and preparing field reports. You will organize laboratory data, conduct/ review limited soil index property laboratory testing and report data. You will interpret data, prepare geological subsurface logs, profiles, design cross-sections, profiles, and assist in preparation of design reports.
Requirements
- BS and/or MS Degree in Geology or Engineering Geology
- 2 years of experience as a Geologist
- Soil sampling in accordance with USCS standards
- Some testing experience
- Have taken or preparing to take Professional Geologist exam
- Experience in geologic interpretation using soil and rock samples retrieved from explorations
- Soil classifications
- The ability to work independently with the appropriate level of minimal supervision
- The willingness and ability to travel to support project needs
- A valid driver license and insurable driving record
- Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel (required)
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying 50+ pounds
- Working in all weather conditions, on uneven terrain
- The ability to travel (drive or fly) to field sites per project needs and job sites locally and across the United States
Nice To Haves
- Experience with application to geotechnical engineering practice is a plus
- Rock mechanics experience a plus
- RSLog (geotechnical borehole logging, or similar), MS Access (desirable)
