About The Position

The Cargo Mission Contract (CMC) program managers, engineers, and staff members provide cargo mission engineering and integration services for NASA’s International Space Station (ISS) Program and Artemis campaign. For more than two decades, the team has carefully prepared cargo to withstand both the intense forces of a rocket launch and the microgravity of orbit to sustain human presence in space. In the engineering form operations department, packaging designs are created to offset launch loads exerted on the hardware items traveling to the ISS.

Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering major
• AutoCAD
• Strong manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination to perform detailed tasks efficiently and accurately
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently after instruction is given

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret information from Engineering Drawings to create the appropriate packaging solution for the hardware.
• Assist in the production of the packaging using various production processes and materials from start to finish.
• Assist in performing quality checks on packaging prior to and post-production.
• Provide technical engineering support.
• Support lab organization, maintenance, cleaning, and inventory of materials used as required.
