The Electronics Technician III tests and troubleshoots electronic and control systems for unmanned air vehicles. This role is responsible for manufacturing, testing, inspection, and repair of electrical systems and components. The technician will write assembly and test procedures, maintain a detailed notebook of all activities, and operate and maintain tools in a safe and serviceable condition. They will work from written procedures, drawings, and direct communication from engineering staff to fabricate electronic assemblies for small UAVs, including avionics and payloads. Responsibilities also include fabricating test fixtures, debugging electronic subsystems, soldering electrical and avionic components (including circuit boards), assembling and installing wire harnesses, and assembling and installing UAV/RC electronic and mechanical systems. The technician will also repair UAV/RC subsystems and help build prototypes for initial designs and low-volume builds not yet released into production. Field testing/flight testing may be required, necessitating some travel. The role requires considerable judgment and initiative, completing tasks resourcefully and effectively, and determining methods and procedures on new assignments, potentially acting as an informal team leader. Other duties as assigned.
