About The Position

Daikin Applied Americas is seeking an Engineering Electrical Technician V to support our HVAC (Chiller & Compressor) development programs, technician installs, tests, calibrates, and repairs electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and will be relied upon to provide support and informal leadership to contractors, maintenance, technicians, and project teams. As a system owner/expert for electrical infrastructure as well as electrical support on Chiller and Compressor, you will be part of the CBU Lab operation team that supports the operations and will be influential in creating a strategic vision for the future.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent technical training and experience
  • Experience working with industrial or manufacturing electrical systems
  • Familiarity with medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safe work practices
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of electrical systems
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting facilities or utilities in a manufacturing and/or testing environment
  • Experience managing or overseeing electrical contractors
  • Rockwell Automation ControlLogix programming experience
  • LabVIEW Programming experience
  • Holds state issued Master Electrician certification
  • Journeyman experience with more than 7 years

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting of existing electrical systems (PLCs, VFDs, MCCs, sensors/instruments, valves/motors)
  • Provide coaching/training to technicians and maintenance staff at the test laboratory
  • Support the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of current and new facility electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and emergency power systems
  • Collaborate with Facilities Engineering, Maintenance, EHS, and Operations teams to support plant operations and minimize downtime
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues affecting building systems, utilities, and laboratory equipment
  • Review electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications for new projects and facility upgrades
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and utility providers on electrical work and service interruptions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and internal policies
  • Support capital projects, renovations, and expansions by providing electrical engineering input and field oversight
  • Assist with preventative maintenance programs and reliability improvements
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for electrical failures
  • Maintain documentation, drawings, and asset records related to electrical systems
  • Ensure existing electrical systems are properly maintained
  • Analyze the current electrical systems and install base to ensure continued maintainability and support; develop a digital roadmap or masterplan where necessary
  • Conduct estimation, and execution of medium to large scale electrical projects
  • Develop and implement project descriptions, plans, timelines, resource requirements, costs, etc.
  • Interface with vendors and contractors
  • Oversee installations and verify compliance with applicable standards
  • Responsibility for electrical and automation portions of projects
  • Share expertise and provide training to build the competencies of electrical skills to peers and lower-level employees
  • Develop electrical strategies for facility expansions and ongoing support
