About The Position

They are seeking an Engineering Designer, Land Development to join their Planning, Development and Natural Resources (PDNR) team in their Wilmington office. This role involves providing technical and design services for civil engineering projects, preparing design computations, drawings, specifications, and bid documents, and reporting to the Project Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule, communicating effectively with the project team, and staying current with design standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil
  • Proficient in CAD Civil 3D and capable of learning other design software programs as required.
  • Process-oriented individual with strong organization and technical skills.
  • Solid communicator, able to take and understand directives from PM and coordinate efforts with design team.
  • Strong writing and verbal skills; Able to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying demands put on them by PMs.
  • May or may not require a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.

Nice To Haves

  • Passed your FE Exam and obtained your E.I./E.I.T.
  • Experience with design of land development projects preferred.
  • NC residency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and design services in support of civil engineering projects as part of a project team
  • Prepares design computations and assessments.
  • Produces design/construction drawings, technical specifications, and bid documents.
  • Reports directly to their Project Manager.
  • Responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Project Manager and design team on design issues and calculations relating to a project.
  • Stays current with Local, State & Federal Design Standards and Regulations.
