About The Position

Performs general design responsibilities involving the preparation of design plans, plats, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates for the construction, maintenance, and alteration of city structures and facilities. Prepares engineering computations, interprets and analyzes survey field data, and inspects construction sites. Assists in the planning and design of engineering projects in assigned civil engineering areas, following general directions in the evaluation and substantial adaptation of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Works with technical staff on plans, specifications, data collection, and inspections. Reviews construction plans for compliance with engineering practices and city regulations. Researches new engineering techniques, construction methods, and materials, making recommendations. Communicates with professionals and non-professionals regarding construction projects, city policies, and regulations. Utilizes computer-assisted engineering and design software, GIS, and Hydraulic Modeling Software for calculations and document preparation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Two (2) years of professional civil engineering experience
• Possession of an Engineering - In - Training Certificate (EIT)
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as a condition of continued employment.

• Experience with AutoCAD
• Experience with TerraModel software
• Experience with GIS
