About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Designer 1 to join their Electric Transmission Team. This role supports the planning and design of electric transmission projects, contributing to reliable and resilient energy infrastructure. It offers an opportunity to build a technical foundation by working with experienced designers and engineers on essential infrastructure projects related to grid reliability, modernization, and long-term energy delivery.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, or a related technical field required.
• No prior experience required—related document production experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
• Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, etc.) and a willingness to learn electric transmission design practices.

Responsibilities

• Produce and revise simple engineering drawings or sketches under the guidance of senior designers or engineers, following established technical standards.
• Examine drawings for accuracy and quality with support from senior team members.
• Participate in project review meetings and accompany senior staff on field assignments when appropriate.
• Utilize drawing production software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and REVIT to create construction documents.
• Assist with contract document preparation in order to develop familiarity with electric transmission codes, standards, and design practices.
