About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for an Engineering Contracts Specialist to support major capital, environmental, and infrastructure projects across our operations. Based in West Chester, Ohio, this role is well suited for an engineer, construction professional, project manager, maintenance professional, or technical specialist looking to leverage their experience in a strategic, business-focused capacity. Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Environmental, Legal, and external suppliers, you will work as part of the procurement team, helping to develop contract strategies, manage commercial risk, negotiate supplier agreements, and support successful project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or other technical field.
  • Three years of experience in project engineering, project management, construction management, maintenance, reliability, environmental projects, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, mining, construction, energy, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience supporting capital projects in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, contractor management, and commercial negotiations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience working with union labor agreements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support capital, environmental, and infrastructure projects from planning through execution.
  • Review project scopes, specifications, and bid packages to ensure requirements are clearly defined.
  • Develop and negotiate contracts for equipment, engineering, construction, and material supply.
  • Evaluate commercial and contractual risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare RFQs, purchase orders, and contract documents.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Environmental, Legal, and suppliers to resolve project and contractual issues.
  • Analyze proposals and bids to ensure project objectives and commercial requirements are met.
  • Other duties as assigned.
