Perform tasks of maintenance, inspection and repairing of mechanical equipment, medical gas system, fire alarm system, plumbing system and others. This role requires critical thinking, sound judgment, and prompt reporting of potential risks. The engineer must maintain up-to-date knowledge of their specialty area, healthcare trends, and the populations served. Computer literacy appropriate to the role is necessary, along with meeting and maintaining all unit-specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures as required. The position also involves completing hospital-required reviews such as HIPAA, safety, health screening, and care concerns, and adhering to National Patient Safety Goals. Responsibilities include demonstrating responsibility for containment of hospital costs and conservation of supplies and equipment, communicating courteously with fellow employees, and maintaining appropriate interdepartmental relationships. A good rapport and professional working relationship with all department and hospital personnel is essential. Proper notification and advance notice for absence or tardiness are required.
