About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking candidates for an Engineer position within the Gas Operations Engineering & Construction group. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining schedules and budgets for large distribution and transmission natural gas projects within the Southern Division that is used by the Manager of Engineering and Construction to report budget variances and make decisions regarding execution of the Division’s infrastructure plan. Along with these duties, the engineer will provide project management for natural gas projects. Project management responsibility involves examining, planning and managing natural gas pipeline projects within the Southern Division (Charleston, Summerville, Beaufort Bluffton and outlying areas). This is a highly visible and challenging position in one of the fastest growing markets in the Country. The position is located in Charleston, SC.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience; registered E.I.T. (Engineer)
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience; registered E.I.T. (Senior Engineer)
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience; registered P.E. (Staff Engineer)
  • Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals.
  • Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position.
  • Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
  • Able to perform highly difficult and complex work requiring extensive knowledge of the subject matter and significant experience within the functional assignment area. (Senior Engineer)
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead. (Senior Engineer)
  • Proven decision-making skills. (Senior Engineer)
  • Strong planning, organizational and project management skills. (Senior Engineer)
  • Plans and conducts complex work requiring independent judgement to develop solutions. (Staff Engineer)

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining schedules and budgets for large distribution and transmission natural gas projects within the Southern Division.
  • Reporting budget variances and making decisions regarding execution of the Division’s infrastructure plan.
  • Providing project management for natural gas projects.
  • Examining, planning and managing natural gas pipeline projects within the Southern Division (Charleston, Summerville, Beaufort Bluffton and outlying areas).
  • Serving as technical expert on engineering related legal and regulatory issues (Staff Engineer).
  • Acting as a resource to management on more complex engineering problems and issues (Staff Engineer).
  • Performing research to find innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions to operational problems within assigned area (Staff Engineer).
