About The Position

Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. (ZNE) is currently seeking an Engineer VI, I&C for a direct hire position located in Charlotte, NC, or Stonington, CT office. This is an in-office position and is not remote. The Engineer VI, I&C will perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects. This role requires extensive experience with power plant system instrumentation and control strategies, technical knowledge of legacy equipment, and a thorough understanding of digital control systems design based on the latest digital platforms. The position includes managing budget, scope, schedule, and quality associated with designated work assignments with minimal guidance and technical oversight. The Engineer VI, I&C will need to devise new approaches to technical problems, leveraging a broad knowledge of industry precedents. Interfacing and coordinating with multiple design disciplines and customer representatives will be required. The engineer must be able to work on project teams to evaluate conditions and propose modifications to improve plant performance, safety, and reliability. Experience in reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers is essential. Managing project teams and providing mentoring oversight to entry-level and junior engineers will also be required. Requirements

BS in electrical, mechanical, nuclear, chemical, computer or process/controls engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program that includes course work in analog and digital control systems
18 years (minimum) of experience with at least 8 of those years with nuclear power, preferably with digital/analog controls systems
Experience with operating plant procedures, processes and nuclear plant licensing
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Possess presentation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Effective time management skills
Understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes
Ability to pass security and drug screening
Ability to maintain unescorted nuclear plant access
Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas

Nice To Haves

MS (in electrical, mechanical, nuclear, chemical, computer or process/controls engineering) from an ABET accredited engineering program
Experience in the nuclear power industry and actual field experience on nuclear plant projects
Professional Engineering registration (PE)

Responsibilities

Devise new approaches to technical problems with a broad knowledge of precedents in the industry
Interface and coordinate with multiple design disciplines as well as with the customer’s representatives
Work on project teams with other engineers to evaluate conditions as well as proposed modifications which will improve plant performance, safety, and reliability
Review and check designs, drawings and data prepared by other engineers
