About The Position

This position is responsible for analyzing transmission system reliability performance data and determining root causes of transmission system reliability issues. This position is also accountable for determining solutions to resolve transmission system reliability issues, and coordinating / championing those solutions through implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE, BSCE, BSME) from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • Acceptable alternatives are: (1) a Professional Engineer’s (PE) License (2) a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited institution (3) a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or technical field of study (non-ABET) plus an advanced degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor’s program.
  • Minimum of 3 (three) years of Engineering experience is required.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess the ability to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy, and deliver results

Nice To Haves

  • A Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certificate is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of electrical engineering, transmission substation equipment, transmission system protection and transmission system operations are desired
  • Prior experience with root cause analysis, Six Sigma and / or statistical analysis is desired

Responsibilities

  • Initiating actions to collect data and information required for transmission system reliability analysis
  • Organizing transmission reliability data to facilitate analysis of transmission system reliability
  • Performing formal and rigorous analysis to determine the cause(s) of transmission system events
  • Performing statistical analyses of transmission reliability data to identify the primary drivers adversely impacting transmission system reliability
  • Developing and maintaining metrics demonstrating how FE transmission system reliability compares to applicable industry standards
  • Recommending management, target levels of FE transmission system reliability performance relative to industry norms
  • Working with Planning & Protection, Engineering and others to identify options with recommendations for projects and initiatives to improve FE transmission system reliability
  • Coordinating and championing transmission system reliability improvement projects through to inclusion in transmission portfolio
  • Developing and making presentations to leadership on status updates and/or project justifications
  • Championing and coordinating transmission reliability improvement initiatives through to conclusion
  • Supporting the emergency plan through participation in assigned storm duties including hazard responding and/or dispatch

Benefits

  • The estimated pay range for this role is $84,150-$118,800.
  • The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range $100,980-$142,560.
