About The Position

Mechanical Lab Test Engineer with GE Vernova. Responsible for interacting with our customers to develop a testing strategy to accomplish small and large component testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in an engineering or technical field) from an accredited university or college and 2 years of experience in a Mechanical Test Environment.
  • OR High School diploma/GED AND 5 years of experience in a Mechanical Test Environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high pressure hydraulics in a test environment.
  • Experience with Toolbox and pitch systems.
  • Qualified rigger with current certification.
  • MTS Controls Software experience.
  • Experience with large structures and maintenance of same.
  • Experience with maintaining complex hydraulic infrastructure and LOTO for those systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan and execute test programs.
  • Instrumentation experience to include strain gage installation and checkout.
  • Strong teamwork capability with focus on sharing knowledge among team members.
  • 5 years experience in a mechanical test lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for execution of laboratory testing, inspection and data acquisition for use in validation of products and services.
  • Responsible for design and construction of test facilities, instrumentation systems and the development of test software.
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE Vernova. Explains technical information to others.
  • Responsible for all testing aspects from initial discussions with engineering to data system and test rig assembly.
  • Communication about data and closing of test in eTOS once the test has completed.
