About The Position

Tatham Engineering is seeking an Engineering Candidate/Engineer or Technologist to join their Land Development group in Ottawa. This role is ideal for a recent engineering graduate looking to advance their career in a supportive, community-focused environment. The successful candidate will assist with the planning and design of land development projects, including roads, sewers, watermains, and stormwater management systems. Responsibilities encompass environmental assessments, servicing studies, feasibility studies, water distribution and sewage collection analysis, conceptual and preliminary design, and final design and drawings, including utility coordination and collaboration with other disciplines and sub-consultants. The role offers challenging and rewarding work, providing opportunities to develop skills and practical experience in a collaborative setting.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • 1-5 years of engineering design experience, preferably in the consulting environment
  • Ability to obtain P.Eng. in the Province of Ontario or C.E.T/C.Tech designations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Enthusiasm to work in a team structure and a willingness to guide, help and collaborate with others
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, guidelines and standards
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and work independently under minimal supervision
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Bilingual (English/French) would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and implementation of land development projects
  • Prepare design calculations, report writing, project coordination and management
  • Prepare submissions and applications for required approvals
  • Prepare cost estimates, tender documents, specifications and construction contract documents
  • Conduct construction inspection and assist with contract administration, including preparation of requests for quotation, contract change orders and proper invoices
  • Interact with client and external parties as required for project needs
