About The Position

As an Engineer Technical Specialist – Mechanical Systems, you will support the mechanical design, configuration, fabrication, and integration of satellite structures and hardware. The parts and systems you may work on range from spacecraft primary and secondary structure, to ground support equipment interfaces and integration accommodations, to mechanisms and deployable structures. In this role, you will assist with the development, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical hardware throughout the spacecraft lifecycle, including prototyping, integration, test, transport, launch, and operational support activities. This position’s internal job code is Engineer Technical Specialist. We are looking for levels 2-3.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of experience using SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software
  • Hands-on mechanical fabrication, assembly, or integration experience through professional work, military experience, trade programs, technical certifications, personal projects, or related experience
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems, materials, manufacturing processes, and hardware integration practices
  • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical documentation
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
  • A final U.S. clearance Post Start is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting spacecraft, aerospace, automotive, robotics, or other highly technical mechanical systems
  • Experience with mechanical assembly, integration, and test activities
  • Familiarity with structural hardware, mechanisms, or ground support equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical hardware discrepancies
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical design and configuration activities for satellite systems and hardware
  • Assist with hardware layout activities and mass properties tracking
  • Support procurement of materials and mechanical components
  • Assist with fabrication, assembly, and integration activities for spacecraft structures and mechanical hardware
  • Support development of tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes necessary to deliver qualified spacecraft hardware
  • Work to subsystem schedules and support program deliverables
  • Support development and maintenance of mechanical models, drawings, and documentation
  • Assist with structural qualification and environmental testing activities, including test setup, test execution, and support equipment configuration
  • Document, analyze, and troubleshoot discrepancies related to mechanical hardware and assemblies
  • Produce and maintain part and assembly drawings to support Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support spacecraft integration activities
  • Other duties as assigned
