Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Engineer Systems / Principal Engineer Systems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL. This role may be filled at the Base OR Principal level based on the qualifications listed, below In this role, the selected candidate will be expected to apply their expertise and knowledge of aircraft systems for development and analysis of system requirements and usage scenarios. Job responsibilities include decomposing high-level requirements into systems and sub-systems specifications. Ensuring requirements are fully allocated, are understandable and testable. The Candidate will collaborate with suppliers and Customers, participate in working groups and gain design requirements approval from our customers. A working knowledge of aircraft sub-systems and system level mission capabilities is required.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 2 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 0 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 0 year of related professional/military experience
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company.
  • Must have experience with Systems Engineering V-Model of development.
  • Must have knowledge of DOORS
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 1 year of related professional/military experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in technical engineering requirements analysis, development, verification and/or validation.
  • Experience leading and coordinating medium sized technical teams.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with direct interface and collaboration with customer representatives.
  • Experience supporting Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool Suite (Jira, Confluence)

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
