About The Position

Axcelis is seeking an Engineer Software Applications II to join the Operations Technology team. This entry-level role develops, tests, supports, and improves custom business applications for manufacturing, warehouse, and operational processes. The position partners with engineering, operations, quality, and IT to automate workflows, improve efficiency, and support digital transformation in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
2-4 years of software development experience through internships, co-ops, academic projects, or professional work.
Experience with one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, Java, or similar technologies.
Basic understanding of software development lifecycle practices, relational databases, and SQL.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience with modern web frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar technologies.
Familiarity with Node.js, Playwright, REST APIs, system integrations, Git, cloud, DevOps, or CI/CD practices.
Knowledge of manufacturing, operations, warehouse management, supply chain, automation, analytics, AI, or digital transformation.

Responsibilities

Develop, test, maintain, and enhance business applications supporting manufacturing, warehouse, and operational processes.
Troubleshoot software issues and improve application reliability, performance, and usability.
Participate in code reviews, follow development best practices, and create unit, integration, and regression tests.
Support internally developed applications by diagnosing issues, assisting with releases, upgrades, and deployments, and working with users to resolve business challenges.
Monitor application performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Partner with manufacturing, warehouse, quality, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into software solutions.
Design automation and integration solutions that reduce manual work, improve efficiency, and support scalable digital transformation.
Develop and execute test plans to validate functionality, requirements, and release readiness.
Create and maintain technical, user, and support documentation for long-term application sustainability and knowledge sharing.
Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and production deployments.
