The Senior Engineer will participate in spacecraft mechanical and structural design from the proposal phase through award, detailed design, fabrication, assembly, testing, and requirements verification. The role includes CAD modeling, design and analysis, requirements development and verification, design for manufacturing and test, and management of technical risks and opportunities. The engineer will help define, maintain, iterate, and verify structural requirements and will generate, maintain, and release primary and secondary structure designs that meet system and subsystem needs. The position begins with hands-on CAD work and straightforward structural calculations during proposals and program startup, then transitions toward leading teams of 5–10 design and analysis engineers. A large portion of the role will involve team leadership and communication with internal and external customers. The engineer will coordinate with spacecraft subsystem personnel, customers and their consultants, payload providers, launch vehicle providers, and subcontractors; contribute to improving spacecraft processes and tools; and maintain effective working relationships across the company. This is an on-site position requiring in-person work five days each normally scheduled week at the primary work location. Work may take place in an office, laboratory, production floor, cleanroom, outdoors, or a remote research environment. Occasional work in production areas may require protective equipment, and access to other facilities may involve varying weather conditions. Travel or commuting between company campuses and other locations may be required.
