We’re seeking a Systems Engineer with experience developing and executing space-based systems at the segment or mission level to be a technical leader on our programs. A successful candidate is creative, flexible, and comfortable handling various and sometimes conflicting priorities. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 10 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active Top Secret security clearance is required with ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
  • Extensive knowledge of missions and customers across core technologies areas.
  • Knowledge/experience working with critical customer base, established relationships with key personnel within customer community.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in relevant business environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and analyzing mission concepts, including space, launch, and ground components.
  • Demonstrated experience in all phases of hardware program execution, including early planning, design reviews, manufacture, assembly, integration, test, sell-off, and on-orbit mission operation.
  • Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, concept of operations, requirement allocation, change management, verification, and validation.
  • Superb presentation skills with documented presentation experience to senior decision making and technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with space and ground system integration is preferred.
  • Experience with supplier, subcontractor, or other acquisition expertise is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide systems engineering leadership, technical guidance, and direction to technical teams from development through operational delivery of space systems.
  • Interface with and support the program management office and Chief Systems Engineer.
  • Support the development and execution of Concepts of Operations that support customer mission objectives and align with program technical solutions, identifying gaps and opportunities in the deployment process.
  • Drive the development and execution of design trade studies.
  • Own the technical risk and mitigation plans for the mission.
  • Lead and/or support program or engineering technical reviews, FRBs, Tiger Teams and investigations as needed.
  • Mentor systems engineers assigned to the program and others in Mission Systems.
  • Prepare and give technical presentations to customers, management and peers.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
