About The Position

The Senior Materials Engineer serves as a primary technical resource for material selection, characterization, qualification, and performance evaluation. The role establishes and maintains material standards, specifications, and best practices; designs material characterization studies; and interprets results to guide engineering and manufacturing decisions. The engineer leads material-related problem solving, root-cause investigations, and failure analyses, and works with product development, manufacturing, quality, operations, and suppliers to resolve technical challenges and develop material solutions. The position supports material-related risk assessments, validation, and regulatory requirements; evaluates emerging materials and technologies; and contributes to long-term technology strategies. It presents technical findings to customers, suppliers, and leadership, and provides technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and technicians. The role also requires adherence to company values and safety, environmental, security, quality, FDA, and other regulatory requirements. Performance is assessed through safety and quality outcomes, project goals and milestones, efficiency improvements, systemic process changes, continuous improvement contributions, technical accomplishments, and collaboration.
