About The Position

BAE Systems Space & Mission System (SMS) in Westminster and Boulder, Colorado, is seeking Electrical Engineers with expertise in EMI/EMC to design and build next-generation electronics for challenging space, air, and ground applications. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit focuses on delivering high-impact technologies through collaborative, cross-functional teams committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning, and strong execution.

Requirements

BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field, plus 4 or more years of related experience. Higher degrees may substitute for experience, and related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Knowledge of the physics of EMI/EMC and system interactions at the physical layer.
An understanding of requirements definition, decomposition, and flow-down, circuit design, interface definition, hardware specifications, interface control, analyses, and verification.
Willingness and eligibility for submission for security clearance/access, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted, and ability to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Nice To Haves

Knowledgeable of space environmental factors (radiation, Total Ionizing Dose, etc) and how they interact with EMC/EMI concerns.
Analytical skills including FMECA, WCA, reliability and risk mitigation.
Familiarity with MIL-STD-461/462/1541 and SMC-S-016 testing requirements.
Knowledgeable in FPGA-based electronics architecture and the impact of EMI on such architectures.
Good communication skills, presentation skills and the ability to lead group discussions.
Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

Define the electronics EMI compliance architecture for spacecraft subsystem and assembly level hardware, including technology assessments, requirements flow-down, analysis and allocation, conceptual development, trade studies, supporting hardware development, and providing system test support during environmental EMC testing.
Support instrument remote sensing and/or spacecraft bus programs, particularly in EMI/EMC requirements, design, issues, and testing (unit and system level).
Document test results, exceedances, and write post-test compliance reports.
Participate and/or lead activities in all phases of a program life cycle from concept development to delivery.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company, interacting appropriately to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
